Scope of Work:

The scope of ITB 3400012421 – Construction of 30 Housing Units in Bosasso, Puntland, Somalia is focused on the construction of climate-resilient and disability-inclusive housing for internally displaced families at the Gribble IDP Relocation Site in Bosasso, Puntland. The project is being implemented by the United Nations Human Settlements Programmed (UN-Habitat) through the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON)

Project Scope of Works

1. Construction of 30 Permanent Housing Units

  • Approximately 30 low-cost permanent housing units
  • Each housing unit covers approximately 39 m²
  • Each unit consists of: 
    • Two rooms 
    • Covered/shaded verandah 
    • Latrine and shower facility 
    • Water storage tank 
    • Tree planting and landscaping around the unit 

2. Civil Works

The contractor is expected to undertake all civil construction activities, including:

  • Site clearance and preparation 
  • Excavation and foundation works 
  • Floor slab construction 
  • Wall construction 
  • Roofing works 
  • Internal and external plastering 
  • Installation of doors and windows 
  • Finishing works and external works 

3. Disability-Inclusive Features

A number of housing units will incorporate accessibility measures, including:

  • Wheelchair access ramps 
  • Handrails 
  • Disability-friendly latrines and bathrooms 
  • Improved accessibility for persons with disabilities 

4. Sanitary and Plumbing Works

The project includes:

  • Water supply installation 
  • Plumbing works 
  • Sanitary fixture installation 
  • Construction of latrine and shower facilities 
  • Drainage systems serving the housing units 

5. Neighborhood Infrastructure

Supporting infrastructure works include:

  • Drainage network for the housing cluster 
  • Site grading and stormwater management 
  • External environmental improvement works 
  • Tree planting and site beautification
